Liquid Histories is a panel discussion that explores the layered histories of water in Cyprus, tracing how it has shaped—and been shaped by—colonial power, memory, and identity. Bringing together perspectives from art history, architecture, and social and cultural anthropology, the discussion examines late 19th-century visual culture alongside official 20th-century archives, while also foregrounding hidden stories and personal narratives that challenge dominant accounts. By weaving these voices together, the panel highlights water not only as an element of nature and a resource, but also as a medium and an archive that remembers and preserves—through which contested histories and lived experiences continue to flow.
