In the framework of the Performing and Live Arts Residency Programme at Theatro Polis OPAP, NiMAC [Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre, Associated with the Pierides Foundation] presents the programme Head and Hand – Foun[d]ain by visual artist Kyriaki Costa. This programme is part of the New European Bauhaus festival. 

Head and Hand – Foun[d]ain is a participatory tour, which will start from NiMAC at 18:30 and will end at 19:30 at the water tank near Nicosia Courts. There, participants will be able to take part and watch an open dialogue on commons, fountains and water, which will be moderated by: Nikos Akritidis (Curator Geographer), Dr. Christina Lambrou (Art Historian), Antigoni Michael (Archaeologist Specialist in Cultural Heritage), Stavroula Michael (PhD Candidate in History-Theory of Architecture, University of Cyprus) and Melina Philippou (Architect, Urbanist, Programme Director at MIT Future Heritage Lab).

About the artist: One of the most important subjects the artist has dealt with in her career is water, and one of her most known projects is “It’s Water – Taps and sources of Nicosia”. In this project, the artist recorded all the water sources of the capital in an effort to reconstruct the water map of Nicosia, through the re-activation of all the water sources of the city: fountains, taps, which once were used as meeting points for the community.
