Αυτή η βίντεο-εγκατάσταση γυρίστηκε δίπλα στο σιντριβάνι του Δημοτικού Κήπου της Λευκωσίας. Χρησιμοποιώντας φιλμ 16mm, ο καλλιτέχνης αιχμαλωτίζει το έγχρωμο φως, τις αντανακλάσεις και τις μεταβαλλόμενες κινήσεις του νερού, δημιουργώντας έναν στοχασμό πάνω στην κίνηση, τον χρόνο και την αντίληψη. Εμπνευσμένος από την ιδέα της Maya Deren να χρησιμοποιεί την κίνηση του ανέμου και του νερού αντί να προσπαθεί να επινοήσει μια πλοκή, καθώς και από το πειραματικό φιλμ Eaux d’Artifice του Kenneth Anger (1953), το έργο εστιάζει αποκλειστικά στο σιντριβάνι, απομονώνοντάς το από τον ευρύτερο χώρο του πάρκου. Στο φιλμ ενσωματώνονται ηχογραφήσεις από τον γύρω χώρο σε συνδυασμό με ένα επεξεργασμένο μουσικό κομμάτι των Barbara Streisand και Donna Summer, από το άλμπουμ Wet. Οι στίχοι «it’s raining, it’s pouring, my love life is boring me…» συγχωνεύονται με τους ήχους του περιβάλλοντος, δημιουργώντας ένα αδιόρατο ηχοτόπιο, το οποίο σε συνδυασμό με τον ήχο του νερού, δημιουργεί μια καθηλωτική ατμόσφαιρα. Η κίνηση του νερού στο σιντριβάνι, οι αντανακλάσεις και τα χρώματά του επανέρχονται διαρκώς, προσφέροντας έναν ρυθμό στοχαστικό και αδιάκοπα μεταβαλλόμενο.

This video installation was filmed beside the water fountain at the Municipal Garden in Nicosia. Using 16mm film, the artist captures the coloured light, reflections, and the shifting pressures and directions of the fountain, creating a meditation on movement, time, and perception. Inspired by Maya Deren’s idea of using the movement of wind and of water instead of trying to invent a plot that moves, as well as Kenneth Anger’s 1953 experimental film Eaux d’Artifice, the work focuses exclusively on the fountain, isolating it from the surrounding park. Layered in the film are field recordings combined with a manipulated track from Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer from the album Wet. Lyrics, “it’s raining, it’s pouring, my love life is boring me…” blend with field recordings into an inaudible soundscape that when combined with the sound of the water develop an immersive atmosphere. The fountain’s movement, its reflections, and its colours return repeatedly, offering a contemplative rhythm that is at once familiar and endlessly renewing.
